TRANSWAY® was designed to help the USTRANSCOM’s Deployment and Distribution Operations Center adapt to changes in planning conditions and/or requirements.

TRANSWAY®

Designed to assist the Deployment and Distribution Operations Center (DDOC) staff within the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), TRANSWAY® is a set of adaptive software tools that can rapidly plan and re-plan the movement of cargo and personnel when operating conditions and/or requirements change.

History

In 2004, USTRANSCOM contracted CDM to develop adaptive software tools that would assist DDOC staff in the planning and re-planning of cargo shipments and personnel transportation. These tools had to facilitate the generation and modification of movement plans for multiple groups of cargo and personnel from several origins moving on multiple types of transportation conveyances along various transportation routes to diverse destinations. To meet these needs, CDM developed TRANSWAY®.

TRANSWAY® Features

  • Processes logistics-related data so that distribution and delivery plans continuously reflect any changes in the status of ports, airfields, rail heads, roads, and marshalling capabilities.

  • Presents in-transit visibility information and up-to-date logistical situation awareness at all echelons.

  • Automatically generates alerts and warnings about items that will not meet delivery dates stipulated in the Joint Force Commander’s delivery schedule.

  • Automatically generates feasible alternatives to delayed deliveries, including suggestions for alternate transportation modes and routes, when appropriate.

  • Provides software agent assistance in the development or modification of movement plans within the area of responsibility. Alternatively, users can assume full control of the re-planning process.

  • Utilizes the CDM-developed ICODES (Integrated Computerized Deployment System) application as a functional extension.
