History
The events of 9/11 have resulted in rigid border-crossing procedures that have slowed cargo movement and placed a significant burden on international trade and commerce. The initial release of SecureOrigins™ focused on improving the operations of the maquila industry at the border crossing between El Paso, TX and Juarez, Mexico. The maquila industry, which relies on the free flow goods, was hard hit by the border deceleration caused by heightened security measures.Process
CDM Technologies, Inc., in conjunction with Holguin Group and industry partners, have developed SecureOrigins™ to increase the efficiency of border operations and protection by incorporating computer-based expert agents that monitor goods shipments as they move from origin to destination across borders. The agents in this pilot system scrutinize available data associated with a shipment, including purchase orders, in-transit routes and events, shipper and receiver information, and subsequently provide Customs authorities with a risk assessment before the load even reaches the border. Technology
SecureOrigins is based upon the Toolkit for Information Representation and Agent Collaboration (TIRAC®) framework.
