ICODES GS combines load planning capabilities for ships, aircraft, rail cars, and yards to facilitate interoperability between these transportation domains.

ICODES Global Services

ICODES Global Services (GS) is the next generation of the Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) developed by CDM and used by the U.S. Department of Defense since 1998. This new version, scheduled for release in 2010, extends ICODES’ ship load-planning capabilities to include aircraft, rail cars, and yards.

New features of ICODES GS will include:

  • An architecture of core attributes.

Although each domain will require its own specifications, ICODES GS will have a core set of features that will make the application easier to learn and use. These core features will include functions to define the conveyances and cargo lists that will be used in a plan; an ability to work with multiple cargo lists in a single plan; and common graphical tools, such as magnification of views and manipulation of loaded cargo items.

  • New agents specific to the load-planning domains.

The new conveyances will require specific agent checks to ensure proper load-planning. For example, rail car planning requires an agent to check the weight capacity and distribution on each rail car, whereas air load planning requires an agent to check the relative positions of break-bulk items and vehicles placed within the aircraft.

  • Load estimation for pallets, containers, trucks, and trailers.

ICODES GS will include the Conveyance Estimator (CE), which will provide two services to accelerate the planning process. First, the CE can generate individual pallet and container plans for the packaging of non-bulk cargo items. Second, the CE can estimate how many trucks and trailers are required to transport a given number of pallets, containers, or other non-bulk cargo.

  • Access through a web browser.

ICODES GS will be accessible through a web browser, allowing users in different locations to work collaboratively on the same plan. If users cannot access ICODES GS over a network connection, they will be able to install the system on a local machine. Whether used through a network or on a local machine, the look, feel, and operation of ICODES GS will remain consistent, thereby flattening the learning curve for new users.

  • Profile-based settings.

Due to the increased number of domains and user groups, a Single Point Login feature will be tied to a user's account in ICODES GS. This allows each user community to stipulate which reference libraries the system uses and which validations a user can approve. In the case of a server hosting ICODES GS, the Single Point Login could also allow for remote account administration and user-specific settings to be retained from one session to the next.

ICODES GS will integrate four load-planning domains of the military’s transportation operations, thereby allowing different user communities to collaborate with one another simultaneously. To learn more about ICODES GS, feel free to Contact Us.
