History
Development of MRAT began in December 2000 under sponsorship of the Logistics Program Office of the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This initial development included a proof-of-concept system that monitors the entire fleet's readiness beginning with a shipboard decision-support system for each ship.Process
As a set of decision-support tools, MRAT maintains a ship's status and operational readiness by monitoring the personnel, maintenance, logistics, supply, and engineering aspects of a ship's posture. Collaborative agents with knowledge in specific domains assist the commanding officer's decision-making process by providing top-level visibility and generating alerts relating to shipboard problems and situations. Through an objectified picture of the ship environment, MRAT increases situational awareness and accelerates the decision activities of shipboard personnel.Technology
MRAT is based upon the Integrated Cooperative Decision Making (ICDM) framework.
